This district, which is entirely within Muscatine County, is currently represented by Gary Carlson, a Republican. Laura says: “It’s time politicians get back to the basics in the state legislature — that means improving public safety, wages, health care and education.”
Gary Carlson has a dismal voting record on labor issues, suggesting that he votes with the far right leadership of Governor Reynolds and Linda Upmeyer. He has served in the House only since 2015. One of his bills is a resolution to call a Constitutional Convention to amend the US Constitution to limit the power and jurisdiction of the Federal Government. Laura Liegois, will stand up for public schools, labor rights, and fight for good jobs, not corporate givaways. Since Rep. Carlson’s background is big business, and she has worked in city government and as a small business owner, she can effectively talk about the need for more attention to main street issues and provide a solid alternative to voters.
