Make sure you’re ready for early voting! Whether you’re registering for the first time or verifying your status, it’s quick and easy to do online.
ID required for early voting
A government issued photo ID with expiration date is required such as:
- Iowa Driver’s License
- Iowa Non-Operator ID
- Iowa Voter Identification Card (with PIN number and signature line)
- Out-of-state driver’s license–with proof of current Iowa address
- UI Student ID can’t be used
You can register and vote early at the same time
If your ID doesn’t show your current address, you’ll need to provide proof of your address. The proof (paper or electronic) must have your name, your address, and be valid within the last 45 days, such as:
- Residential lease
- Utility bill
- Cell phone bill
- Bank statement
- Paycheck
- Other government document

RETURN YOUR BALLOT
By mail: Your ballot must reach the Auditor’s Office by Nov 5 at 8pm, so put your ballot in the mail by Oct 29!
By hand:
- Put in the ballot drop box near the Auditor’s Office before Nov 5
- Hand the ballot to the Auditor’s Office staff
- Ask a relative to return your ballot
- Call the Auditor’s Office for help: 319-356-6004
